On a trip to Italy in the fall of 2004, I found myself in Florence at an out of the way shop specializing in handbags. While I didn't end up purchasing anything, I still vividly recall the gorgeous, well-worn desk the owner used to write countless receipts on. The desk told a story of many years in business and had all the war wounds to prove it, giving it character for days. It serves as a reminder to me that while good furniture looks good today, great furniture looks even better with age and use. Our solid wood desks and hutches are built to do just that.
